The Final Stages

Well, as I sit here with a glass of wine I think to myself, "Where will I be in 5 years?" This seems so far away to me as I still must graduate and pass my Praxis test so that I can become a teacher.  The more important question is, "Where will I be next week?!?"

The great thing is is that I know that everything is done that needs to be done. Only minor details need to be tightened up. Things such as a disposable phone to make international calls and figuring out how much i should tip the cab driver that is taking me from the airport to the campus.

The closer and closer I get to the time to go the more excited I get. For a while, I wasn't sure that I would get excited, but everyday I talk to people and they ask me questions about what will be happening when I leaned in South Korea. If this gets me amped up I cannot imagine what feelings I will have when I step onto that plane!

That's all for now, Talk to you soon!

Welcome! Thirty Days and Counting Until the Departure

Hello!

My name is Kenneth Trey Jones and I am a fifth year senior at Ohio Northern University double majoring in History and Social Studies with a minor in Political Science and a concentration in Secondary Education.

This site is designed to show everyone the experiences that I have on my adventures abroad within the coming years.  I am only 30 days away from going abroad for the first time and I could not be more excited, or scared. I am traveling to Seoul, South Korea to teach english and study at Dankook University.

Being a relatively adventurous and outgoing person the idea of going abroad by myself excites me.  I like the fact that i can fly by myself and experience what I would like to.  I'm not a fan of an itinerary, so my goal for this page is to show the culture of the people I am visiting as they are.  Museums are nice, but I would much rather talk to the people and experience the culture, language, and most importantly FOOD on my own.

This will be the first time that I have flown on my own, but that doesn't really bother me.  the thing that gets me is the whole flying over water for approximately 9 hours. hopefully the movie and meal selection will be able to keep me joyfully distracted.

This next month cannot go by any faster! This trip is the first step for me to experience the world and learn about different peoples so that I may be able to bring their stories and ways of life back to the classroom for my future students. Until next time I wish you good health, great meals, and happy travels!
